These opportunities give students a clear look at technical careers in agriculture. They also show how skills learned today lead to strong futures tomorrow.
TK Discovery Days: Experience the Industry
TK Discovery Days introduce students to life inside a working John Deere dealership. The focus stays on exploration, engagement, and real-world exposure.

Juniors: April 6–10

Sophomores: April 20–24
During TK Discovery Days, students spend time in the shop and around the equipment. John Deere machines showcase the technology used in modern agriculture. Diesel systems move from theory to practice through hands-on demonstrations. Skilled technicians explain how they diagnose issues and keep equipment performing at a high level.
Interaction matters. Students ask questions. Team members share personal career paths and discuss training options. Many students leave with a better sense of direction. Others discover interests they hadn’t considered before.
This experience helps students think ahead. It also builds confidence in choosing a technical career path.
LATC-TK: A Career Pathway for Seniors
For high school seniors, the LATC-TK program offers a direct route into the diesel technology field. This partnership between Lake Area Technical College and Valley Plains Equipment blends education with real dealership experience.
